It goes without saying; staying connected with your clients and keeping a finger on the pulse, is crucial for business. One of the first things that come to mind is probably “how much is this going to cost me?” Sending out promotional gifts or giving free credits to loyal (or potential) customers can be very expensive and might not produce a high enough “hit-rate” to make it worth while.

What if there was a way we could stay connected with our clients, send promotions, advertise goods and build a strong brand all in one go? What if this whole package could cost us next to nothing? It sounds too good to be true... Hold that thought.

Statistics show that the average person in a workplace sends over 12 000 emails every year. Your emails get seen 12 000 times each year. That’s 12 000 times you could have advertised your product, established your brand and run email campaigns. Why not use this opportunity?

There once was a company who did not have email branding. When sending out quotes to possible clients, they had a hit-rate (successful accepting of quotes) of about 50%. Then they branded their emails and the hit-rate shot up by almost 25%!

Through branded emails you’re not just setting a mood or look and feel for your business, you are saying “look at us; we’re different, we’re on top of things, we want to do business”. And every now and then you change it up, promote a new product or deal in your email signature and clients start paying attention to it more often.

Still not convinced of the benefits of email branding? What about this: Email branding is interactive and thus measurable. Once someone clicks on a link in your email signature (let’s say your website address) two things happen.

1) That person is directed to view your website and discover your products or services, and
2) you receive a notification that that client clicked on your website link. You can measure and keep track of “click-throughs” on your email branding and thus see if your marketing or promotion is doing well.

With these real-time insights into campaign performance and click through rates, you can invest better in marketing messages that really work. Turn your employees’ email signatures into an advert and increase your advertising reach.

We live in a world where we constantly need to update our lives. We update our phones on a weekly basis so that we can have the best software technology on the market. We update our computers so that we have access to the smartest, fastest programmes. We update our social media platforms on a daily basis to stay socially popular. We update our clothes every time something new comes in fashion. We update our hair, our cars, our friends, our companies. We’re on a constant look-out for anything that’s new, fresh and deemed necessary. Every part of your life is updateable.

Then why not update your website regularly?

Imagine a company never updated their computer software and they are still operating on Windows95. Do you think that company will function smoothly and be successful? No.

Updating your website is not only necessary for operational reasons, but it also holds amazing benefits, like the ones listed here:

  1. Fresh content means frequent indexing. Some of you might not know this, but Google has Internet crawlers that go from website to website to gather new and updated information. Those crawlers then report back and Google then indexes all the new information. The more your site gets indexed, the more searchable it becomes. In other words, it’s good for business.
  2. More content, more keywords. In the world of web, keywords are king. The more content you have on your website, the more keywords you can have related to your industry. With that said, keep in mind that your content should still be of high quality. Find balance with quantity and quality.
  3. Keeps your visitor updated and informed. There’s nothing as bad as going to a site to find the latest news or information, just to be greeted by old and outdated info from 2005. We know that some information will always stay relevant, but try to swoosh it up every now and then. In some industries however, new info is very important and this will keep visitors coming back for more.
  4. It gives you a competitive edge. Of course your business has its competitors and by staying in the lead with the latest trends, data, news etc. will give you that competitive edge you need. Think like a customer; which company will you go to, the one with the latest info and trends, or the one that is 6 months behind?
  5. Shows your business is active. By updating your website regularly, clients and possible clients can see your company is healthy and active and tend to visit your site more than once.
  6. Make the right impression. It’s simple, seeing that the latest news is “2 years ago”, is not making a good impression. Some people don’t even bother to stay on your site when seeing this. But, when seeing a blog post or the latest news posted only 2 days ago, visitors will peruse your website for sure.
  7. Keeps the communication channels open. This is especially important when you use your site to communicate with clients.

Remember, your website is a representative and employee of your company. You need to enable that employee to communicate the correct info, to set an example and convince clients to do business with you.

Scared you might forget to update your site regularly? Use this easy trick: Every time you update your phone, ask yourself “do I need to update something on my website?”

Brace yourself.. the age of mobile is here. Did you know that up to 60% of all google searches are done on mobile devices? They call it the rise of the smartphones and even “mobilegeddon”. Whatever you want to name it, the fact of the matter is that mobile is taking over. We need to adjust. If your website is not mobile-friendly, you will get left behind and most probably lose business.

Having a mobile-friendly site includes various benefits and it’s these benefits that will convince you to take the step and get that website of yours mobile friendly!

First of all, having a mobile friendly website will help with your site’s SEO as it improves rankings on search engines. The higher you rank, the better for your business. Google has also started lowering the rank of sites that are not mobile-friendly, which means sooner or later the sites that don’t keep up, will end up at the bottom.

Secondly, the traffic on your site will increase enormously. As mentioned, up to 60% of all google searches are done using mobile devices. If your site is not mobile-friendly, people will be put off by it and simply return to the search result page to choose a site that is indeed mobile friendly.

Another reason why you should go mobile-friendly, is because that is what people expect. Regardless of whether your services are the best and exactly what someone needs, if they access your website on their smartphone and struggle to navigate your mobile-unfriendly site, they will simply go find another one.
